History

1940

The Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. was founded by George I. Church in 1940 on S. Washington St. in Waynesburg, known then as the Church Funeral Home. In 1947 the firm moved to its present location.


1960

Upon Mr. Church's death in 1959 the firm was owned by Mrs. Church with Glise E. Mariner as the partner and Supervisor. In November 1960, Glise E. Mariner and Samuel A. Milliken purchased the funeral home and established the Glise E. Mariner and Samuel A. Milliken Funeral Home.


1985

Over the years the funeral home has been redecorated and additions added to the funeral home bringing the facility to over 5000 Square feet. In 1985 a 36 car parking lot was installed.


1987

In 1987 Daryl L. Throckmorton who at the time had worked for the firm for 12 years, established the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home,Inc. with Samuel A. Milliken.


1996

On January 1, 1996 Mr. Throckmorton became the sole owner and operator of the funeral home. At that time he also established a branch funeral home in Mt. Morris, Pa.
 


Today

Mr. Throckmorton continues to serve all faiths and offers a wide range of funeral services to fit the wants and needs of the families we serve. We are proud to still be locally owned and operated, and still offer professional service, home like setting and sincere compassion to the families we serve.
